2018 Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP)

The Houston National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) will sponsor the 8th Annual Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP), July 15-21, 2016 at University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business.

ACAP was created to provide early exposure of the career opportunities in the accounting, finance and other business related fields to high school students. This one-week residency program provides students excellent opportunities to not only learn more about their future career opportunities, but also to meet other students within the Houston metropolitan and surrounding cities.

ACAP will provide hands on learning experiences, enhanced with tours to major corporations.  A series of sessions will introduce students to accounting, finance, marketing, and management, as well as shared business experiences and tips for success from professional business leaders.  Every year students interacted with professionals and executives from companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Grant Thornton, Internal Revenue Service, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Gainer, Ernst & Young, KPMG and Williams.

This year, we will sponsor a maximum of 24 students, concentrating on current sophomores & juniors but will accept freshman and graduating seniors.  The students will be selected for ACAP through the application process.  These students will attend ACAP with all expenses paid.  All applicants must have a current minimum GPA of 2.7, be a current high school student and at least 14 years old, and meet all requirements outlined in the application.

The 2018 ACAP application  is posted on the ACAP website at
